Rev. Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has dismissed the Islamization claims made by the state’s former governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Hayab believes El-Rufai’s recent remarks about a Muslim/Muslim ticket and President Bola Tinubu’s victory are tactics aimed at furthering his alleged presidential ambitions and creating division between Christians and Muslims in the country.
Hayab accuses El-Rufai of playing religious and political games to confuse people and incite conflict between different groups for his own benefit. He asserts that El-Rufai’s true character has been exposed through his statements and actions.
According to Hayab, El-Rufai’s supposed Muslim/Muslim ticket in Kaduna would have led to more problems and divisions, as evidenced by the killings and unrest in the state during his administration. Hayab also criticizes El-Rufai for his lack of respect for Islamic clerics and believes that his motivations are self-centered and not genuinely concerned with the well-being of the people.
Hayab concludes by suggesting that El-Rufai’s actions demonstrate his unsuitability for leadership and highlight the need to thoroughly assess the emotional stability and mental fitness of individuals before granting them power.
