DNI Tulsi Gabbard Makes Bold Accusations Against Former Obama Administration Officials
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard publicly accused former President Barack Obama and senior officials of orchestrating a covert campaign to misrepresent the intelligence on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election—calling it a “treasonous conspiracy.”
Gabbard released declassified materials, including parts of a 2020 House Intelligence Committee report, and has referred the case to the Department of Justice. In response, the DOJ has formed a strike force to investigate her claims.
Obama’s office dismissed the allegations as “baseless distractions,” noting that multiple investigations—including bipartisan Senate reports and Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s work—confirm Russia did interfere in 2016, though not by altering vote outcomes.
Former President Trump embraced the allegations, using them to renew calls for criminal charges and launching a campaign with AI-generated visuals depicting Obama under arrest. Gabbard’s testimony is also being scrutinized as potentially shielded by political motivations tied to internal White House dynamics.
This controversy has rapidly intensified political divisions and raised questions about politicization of U.S. intelligence and accountability at the highest levels of government.
