9ice Reveals He Vomited Blood for Six Months Amid Spiritual Ordeal
During a recent appearance on The Nancy Isime Show, Nigerian music icon 9ice (Alexander Adegbola Akande) shared a harrowing experience from 2009–2010: he began vomiting blood for six consecutive months, a condition he insists was not medical, but spiritual.
A Battle He Couldn’t Cure
When Nancy Isime asked about his experiences with spiritual warfare in the music world, 9ice responded:
“Several times.”
He then described the most disturbing episode: vomiting blood continuously at home—forcing him to leave the house and seek help. Despite various medical consultations, no conventional remedy worked.
Healing Through Tradition
According to 9ice, relief finally came when he was referred to an Ifá priest, marking his first true encounter with traditional African spirituality. That experience inspired him to embrace traditional religion and eventually train as a Babalawo (Yoruba Ifá priest). He expressed regret for not discovering these roots sooner.
He shared:
“I’m not a Christian or a Muslim—I’m a Babalawo. I’m African. I’m a traditionalist.”
“Someone referred me to Ifá—the healing was real. I wished I had known it earlier.”
“Fela was mocked for seeking Ogun’s guidance—now I understand why.”
Industry Warning & Spiritual Reflection
In the same interview, 9ice claimed that the music industry is spiritually charged—he even called the devil the “choirmaster” of the industry, warning young talents to prepare themselves spiritually if they intend to join the field.
Why It Resonates
Personal transformation: 9ice’s journey from life-threatening affliction to spiritual awakening is deeply personal—and rare.
Cultural pride: By embracing traditional religions, he invites Africans to reconnect with ancestral spirituality.
Public discourse: His candidness challenges familiar narratives around religion, identity, and celebrity in contemporary Nigeria.
