VeryDarkMan Dismisses Iyabo Ojo’s Petition Against CP Uche as “Suya Paper” VeryDarkMan Dismisses Iyabo Ojo’s Petition Against CP Uche as “Suya Paper”

Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan has responded to actress Iyabo Ojo’s formal petition accusing the Director of the National Cyber Crime Centre, CP Ifeanyi Henry Uche, of misconduct during her police interrogation. Ojo submitted the petition to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, alleging that CP Uche allowed VeryDarkMan, who is involved in a separate case in which she serves as a witness—into her interrogation room, granting him VIP-style treatment.

According to Iyabo Ojo’s legal team, during her questioning at the NPF‑NCCC in Abuja, VeryDarkMan was admitted into the session, served himself coffee, and sat alongside officers and complainants—privileges she argues no ordinary civilian should receive. She described this as a breach of her right to privacy, confidentiality, and dignity.

In her petition dated July 29, Ojo’s lawyers called for an independent investigation, a transfer of jurisdiction to Lagos, and an end to what they described as a biased and compromised inquiry. She also accused CP Uche of favoritism toward VeryDarkMan and expressed worries that recordings or details from the interrogation were leaked online, allegedly by him.

In response, VeryDarkMan shared the petition on his Instagram story, tagging @nigeriastory and writing:
“this petition na suya paper.”
In Nigerian slang, he meant it was insubstantial or meant to stir up controversy without real effect.

It’s worth recalling that Iyabo Ojo had complied with a police invitation related to cyberbullying and defamation claims by Naira Marley and Sam Larry, following the release of a video appearing to show them harassing the late singer Mohbad, whose death prompted widespread outrage.
