Music executive Ubi Franklin has firmly rejected circulating claims that he stole a luxury wristwatch during Davido’s wedding ceremony in Miami.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Franklin labeled the allegations as “completely false and misleading.” He shared a detailed account of the events to clear up the confusion.
According to Franklin, a jeweler named Benny approached him in Miami, offering a watch for sale. However, after examining the item and learning about its prior ownership, Franklin declined to buy it to avoid any complications, something he made clear to the jeweler.
Later, during the wedding ceremony’s church service, Benny’s brother brought Franklin a second watch, which he purchased and paid for in full. Amid the hustle of the event, Franklin found himself holding both watches and opted to wear the newly purchased one.
Shortly after the celebrations, Franklin left Miami to return to Nigeria for his sister’s funeral. While in the air, he was contacted by Benny regarding the first watch.
“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full,” Franklin emphasized, noting that Benny had already debunked the theft rumors earlier that same day.
