Pierce Brosnan Open to Returning as James Bond “In a Heartbeat”

London, Former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan, now 72, has expressed genuine enthusiasm for the possibility of reprising his James Bond role, especially if Denis Villeneuve is at the helm. In a recent interview with Radio Times, Brosnan joked that he’d even embrace aging effects like bald caps and prosthetics to play a “craggy, 72-year-old Bond,” noting: “If Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I would look at it in a heartbeat.

Brosnan, who headlined four Bond films from GoldenEye (1995) to Die Another Day (2002), described the idea of returning as “great entertainment,” and hinted that the right creative package could make such a comeback both meaningful and fun.

His remarks come amid growing anticipation around the casting of the next 007, following Daniel Craig’s exit in No Time to Die (2021) and the franchise’s transition to Amazon MGM Studios. With Villeneuve confirmed as director and executive producer, the Bond series is entering a new era, but no official casting for the next Bond has been revealed yet.

Dame Helen Mirren, Brosnan’s co-star in The Thursday Murder Club, weighed in during a joint interview, stating that James Bond should remain male, echoing a sentiment Brosnan shares. She quipped, “I’m such a feminist, but James Bond has to be a guy… otherwise it becomes something else.
