Venice, Italy, A landmark Kenyan-Nigerian co-production, One Woman One Bra, has been officially selected for screening at the prestigious 82nd Venice International Film Festival, running from 27 August to 6 September 2025.

A Groundbreaking Collaboration

This feature marks a historic union of East and West African creativity. Produced by Nigerian filmmaker Josh Olaoluwa, One Woman One Bra is the directorial debut of Kenyan writer-director Vincho Nchogu, and was shot entirely on location in Kenya. Cinematography was handled by Nigerian VMA Cinematography Award winner Muhammad Atta Ahmed, further underscoring the transnational spirit of the project.

The film was developed under the Biennale College Cinema scheme, a competitive program that selects only four global projects to support through development and production—making its inclusion especially notable.

Creative Vision and Continental Unity

On the selection, Olaoluwa expressed his pride: “This is such an honour for me, because the Venice Film Festival is one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, and being the first Nigerian to take a feature film there is something I do not take for granted.” He emphasized the project’s power to showcase what pan-African collaboration can achieve: “It was a great collaborative experience between the Kenyan and Nigerian crew on the project. It also shows what is possible if we unite as a continent and collaborate more.”

Olaoluwa’s and Nchogu’s professional partnership has deep roots—they previously collaborated on Fantastic Tale, which earned the Red Sea Souk Production Prize after development through Red Sea Labs (2023) and Torino Film Lab. Their work has reached platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Slamdance, Apple TV+, and received backing from Cannes, Film Independent, and Doc Society.

Scheduled Screenings

The film will feature among the four Biennale College Cinema selections screened in Venice, and will also be available via the festival’s Sala Web theatre, which streams the Competing films online for a limited season starting around 30 August.
