Naira Marley Denies Any Involvement in Mohbad’s Death, Speaks Out Nearly a Year Later
Almost a year after the tragic passing of his former signee Mohbad, Marlian Music boss Naira Marley (Azeez Fashola) has finally broken his silence. In a video posted to Marlian Music’s official YouTube channel, he firmly rejected all allegations linking him to Mohbad’s untimely death.
“No, I didn’t bully him, and I didn’t kill him,” Marley asserted in the video.
Earlier this year, Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, Mohbad’s ex-manager Babatunde Opere, and his childhood friend Primeboy were cleared by a Yaba Magistrate’s Court of any wrongdoing related to the singer’s death.
Meanwhile, the Ikorodu Coroner’s Court recommended filing charges against auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe for her “unlawful and professionally negligent” care administered to Mohbad just before his passing, though the court did not accuse her of homicide.
Marley also reflected on his own difficult journey in the public eye: recounting his 2019 arrest by the EFCC, the pressures of fame in Nigeria, and his decision to spend more time abroad with his children.
Looking back on Mohbad’s final days, Marley acknowledged the turbulence the late star faced, from NDLEA confrontations and a suicide attempt to disputes with management and distribution. Still, he emphasized that Mohbad had expressed a desire to reconcile.
“Even after all of this, Mohbad still told people he wanted to come and apologize. But I didn’t know he was going to die. If I knew, I would have let him come,” he said, also revealing that he was in Amsterdam with his family when Mohbad passed.
