Tiwa Savage Marks Triumphant Return with ‘This One Is Personal’, Her First Album in Five Years
Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage is back with a deeply personal full-length album, This One Is Personal, released Friday, August 29, 2025. The project signals the end of a five-year break from studio albums, her last being Celia in 2020.
On social media, Savage shared how emotionally invested she was in the album, “This project is so close to my heart, and I poured every part of me into it. I just pray you receive it with the same love I created it with. Please cherish it, because #ThisOneIsPersonal.”
Recorded across Nashville, London, and Lagos, the album embraces an intimate Afrobeats aesthetic. It spans 15 tracks, with standout songs including “On the Low” featuring UK rapper Skepta, “Addicted” with rising star Taves, and James Fauntleroy joining her on “Change.”
Savage explained during a fan Q&A on X that she intentionally kept collaborations minimal:
“I wanted you all to feel me in every song. The few features I chose were very intentional, with people who understood the vision and could add to the message without taking away from its intimacy. It’s less about numbers and more about connection.”
The album was executive produced by Tiwatops Savage, Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna, and MystroSugar, with A&R helmed by Kolawole Omoboriowo and Sak Pase.
Fans have already embraced the release, taking to social platforms with the hashtag #ThisOneIsPersonal to celebrate her return and delve into the meanings behind the tracks.
