Nigerian rap sensation Odumodublvck has opened up about his harrowing encounter with drug addiction during his university years, revealing that he nearly lost his life to an overdose while studying at the University of Lagos.

On a recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, the “Pity The Boy” hitmaker shared how his addiction spiraled to a dangerous level. “I was a very bright student while studying at the University of Lagos. But I was indulging in illicit drugs. One day, I took it and almost died. I called my mother to book my flight to return to Abuja,” he recounted. He added that following the frightening episode, he used drugs only one more time before quitting entirely.

Expressing profound gratitude for surviving the ordeal, Odumodublvck emphasised that not everyone is lucky enough to escape the grip of drug addiction. “I’m grateful because there are some people that went into that life and they didn’t make it out. Some people didn’t make it alive… Some even committed suicide due to drug overdose. I’ve seen a pregnant woman and her husband battling drug addiction. It’s really terrible!” he warned, highlighting the devastating toll addiction takes on individuals and families.

Through his candid testimony, Odumodublvck is urging young people to steer clear of illicit substances, stressing that substance abuse can destroy lives and faith. His story serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug addiction, and the vital importance of recovery and awareness.
