Afeez Owo Accepts Yemi Solade’s Public Apology for On-set Slap
Nollywood producer and actor Afeez Owo has publicly accepted the heartfelt apology tendered by veteran actor Yemi Solade for slapping him years ago on a film set.
Solade issued the apology during a recent interview, expressing remorse and revealing that he had discussed the incident with colleagues as part of his effort to make amends.
On the African A-List podcast, Owo responded with grace and understanding, addressing Solade affectionately as his “senior brother.” He conveyed that the slap, though regrettable, felt akin to a disciplinary action from an older sibling, making it easier to forgive.
He reassured listeners that even without the apology, he would not hold Solade fully accountable.
Recounting the incident, Owo explained that he was working as production manager at the time, coordinating care and logistics for the cast and crew. The episode unfolded while they were transitioning from one location to another, from Ibadan to a Fulani resettlement area, when Owo asked each person to convey their needs for the road. According to him, Solade misunderstood the instructions and, overtaken by hunger, slapped him.
Owo’s response highlights his commitment to maintaining harmony within the Nollywood community, advocating for forgiveness and unity among industry professionals. His acceptance of the apology underscores the importance of resolving past conflicts amicably, especially in high-pressure, collaborative environments.
