Veteran Actress Clarion Chukwurah Decries Social Media Falsehoods, Claims Divine Protection
Actress Clarion Chukwurah has spoken out against what she describes as a disturbing surge of misinformation and defamation on social media. Through a recent Instagram post, she criticized some online media outlets and individuals for engaging in what she called “witch-hunting,” blackmail, and the deliberate spreading of lies. She suggested that this may stem from envy or dissatisfaction over others’ achievements.
Chukwurah reaffirmed her faith, citing several Bible passages, such as Isaiah 54:15-17, Genesis 12:3, Numbers 23:23, and Numbers 24:9, to assert that her achievements are not by her own power, and that she is protected by God. She emphasized that no amount of curses can prevail against someone whom God has blessed.
Among her statements:
“I never cease to wonder how it became so bad in Nigeria that online media has become an acceptable platform to misinform, witch hunt, blackmail, broadcast outright lies, and just wish evil on others … is it because some … can not bear the thought that others are happy and doing great in their own space?”
In closing, she encouraged those airing falsehoods about her to note her conviction that “in Jesus Christ, I am secured and remain strong.”
