FX’s Alien: Earth Finale Sparks Questions About Season 2
FX’s Alien: Earth wrapped up its debut season with a dramatic power shift, leaving fans eager to know whether the sci-fi prequel series will return for a second installment.
Created by Noah Hawley, the eight-episode season delivered chilling new alien species, experimental technology, and a shocking finale where Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and the hybrid “Lost Boys” seized control of the Neverland research facility. The ending has set the stage for even bigger conflicts involving corporations like Weyland-Yutani and the hybrids’ uncertain future.
Although FX has not officially renewed the series, both Hawley and FX chairman John Landgraf have expressed optimism about continuing the story. Hawley has described Season 1 as a “proof of concept,” adding that if it proves commercially successful, he envisions building on the story with multiple future seasons. Landgraf previously noted that FX encouraged Hawley to develop at least two seasons before revisiting his other projects.
Production delays from Hollywood’s 2023–24 strikes stretched Season 1’s timeline to two years, but a potential second season could arrive sooner without such setbacks. Hawley has also said he wants to streamline the process so fans won’t face a long wait between installments.
Until renewal news arrives, speculation remains high about the fate of Wendy, the hybrids, and their uneasy alliance with the Xenomorphs. With alien threats still loose on the island and Weyland-Yutani closing in, Alien: Earth has plenty of story left to tell.
The full first season of Alien: Earth is currently streaming on Hulu, with new episodes having premiered weekly on FX and Hulu.
