McFadden Praises Iheanacho After Striking in UEL Draw for Celtic
Former Everton forward James McFadden has applauded Kelechi Iheanacho for his composed finish after the Nigerian forward scored for Celtic in their 1–1 UEFA Europa League draw against Red Star Belgrade.
Iheanacho was introduced at half-time and made an immediate impact, converting a chance in the 55th minute to give Celtic the lead.
His goal came after a lively second half display from Celtic, and McFadden’s comments underline the growing confidence around the forward’s ability to deliver in big European fixtures.
Meanwhile, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers also praised Iheanacho’s influence on the game. He said the striker’s ability to hold up the ball and thrive in central areas gave his side an improved platform in the match’s second phase.
Rodgers added that Iheanacho’s goal was “outstanding” and was a positive sign for the team as they look to build momentum in Europe.
Despite taking the lead, Celtic were pegged back ten minutes later when Marko Arnautović equalised for Red Star from close range.
The match ended in a draw, but the contributions of Iheanacho and McFadden’s public praise have added a boost to Celtic’s European campaign outlook.
