
Fans and Colleagues Flood Social Media to Celebrate Joke Silva’s 64th Birthday
Today, veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva turned 64, and her fans, peers, and industry admirers have taken to social media with heartfelt tributes and well-wishes in honour of her milestone.
Silva shared a gratitude post on her official Instagram account, thanking God for His mercy, protection, provision, family, friends, and colleagues, as she marked another year.
“Grateful Lord for your Mercy, your Faithfulness, for protection, for Provision, for Family for Friends for Colleagues, thank you King of Glory for 64 amazing years,” she wrote.
In response, tributes poured in from prominent figures and well-wishers. Media executive Mo Abudu commented, “Happy birthday big sis, all my love.”
Actress Shan George added, “Happy birthday Aunty J, I wish you good health in wealth and prosperity. More grace.”
Other fans used affectionate titles like “Mama J,” “gorgeous,” and “Nollywood goddess” in their messages.
Born on September 29, 1961 in Lagos, Silva has built an illustrious career in both English- and Yoruba-language film and television.
One of her early international works includes starring alongside Colin Firth and Nia Long in The Secret Laughter of Women (1998).
Over the years, she has earned awards and accolades, notably winning the “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2006.
Silva has also been recognized beyond entertainment. In 2012, she was named a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
In 2014, she was honored with the national title of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
