Tiwa Savage Finally Speaks on Long-Running Feud with Seyi Shay
Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has addressed the ongoing tension between her and fellow artiste Seyi Shay, shedding light on the viral salon confrontation and emphatically denying claims that she ever tried to hinder another woman’s success.
Clearing the Air on the Salon Incident
Tiwa revisited the now infamous salon altercation, offering her side of what happened. She insisted she never attempted to “block” any deals or opportunities from other female artists, including Seyi Shay.
She expressed her hurt over the allegations, saying she was wounded and bewildered by their source:
“That was painful, and I didn’t know where it came from.”
Myths vs Reality: On “Blocking Bags”
One of the recurring accusations in this dispute has been that Tiwa was somehow interfering in other women’s careers. She flatly denied this. She argued that she would never sabotage the “bag” (i.e. deals, endorsements) of another woman.
To underscore her point, Tiwa referenced her own vulnerability during pregnancy, claiming she lost a major endorsement (a Pepsi campaign) during that period, which she says eventually went to Seyi Shay. She uses this as an example that she herself was not in a position to block anything.
A More Private Approach to Conflict
Tiwa explained that when issues arise, she prefers to address them directly, privately or through conversation, rather than always airing grievances publicly. She hinted that while she’s capable of confronting wrongdoing, she doesn’t always feel the need to do so on social media.
She reaffirmed her stance as a pro-women artist, asserting that she would never deliberately work against another woman’s progress.
