Fayose Explains Why He Rejected Tinubu’s Appointment Offer
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has disclosed why he declined an offer of appointment from President Bola Tinubu, stating that the timing was not right for him to reenter public service.
In a recent interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” Fayose revealed that, after many years of involvement in politics, he made a conscious decision to step back. He explained that he preferred to focus on personal matters rather than accept a political role again.
Though he said he remains on cordial terms with Tinubu, Fayose emphasized that he would not be lured by position or prestige. He affirmed that his decision reflects a deliberate phase of withdrawal rather than any fallout or disagreement with Tinubu’s administration.
Fayose’s remarks come amid ongoing speculation about realignments within major parties and the positioning of senior political actors ahead of future elections.
