Reality TV Star Phyna Alleges Abuja Hotel Detained Her After Thugs Stormed Room
Popular reality TV star Phyna (real name Ijeoma Otabor) has publicly accused a hotel in Abuja of allowing unidentified individuals into her room, detaining her and demanding she pay ₦3.5 million for alleged damages.
In a post circulated on social media, Phyna claimed that the hotel permitted “thugs” to gain access to her private space and subsequently held her against her will until she accepted the damage claims. She maintained that the action was inappropriate and heavy-handed.
According to her statement, the hotel demanded the sum of ₦3,500,000 for damages, which she strongly disputes. She also suggested that she was coerced into “confessing” to the amount in order to be released.
While the full identity of the hotel and the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident remain unclear, Phyna’s post has stirred much reaction online, with many sympathising with her and others demanding that the hotel respond to the allegations.
Entertainment industry watchers are awaiting a formal response from the hotel management as well as clarification from the law enforcement authorities regarding whether the detention was lawful.
If proven, the incident raises questions about guest security, hotel protocols for handling disputes and the legality of detained guests over property damage claims.
Phyna had earlier addressed a viral video of her in an altercation at a hotel in Abuja; the latest claim builds on that situation and signals a deeper escalation between the star and the establishment.
As of evening Monday, neither the hotel nor the local police have issued public statements. However, the episode has sparked broader conversation about how hospitality venues manage conflict and the rights of guests in Nigeria.
