Mega Line-Up for Felabration 2025 as Modola, Bright Chimezie and Others Take the Stage
The 2025 edition of Felabration celebrated its silver jubilee with a powerful blend of music, culture and activism as thousands of fans gathered at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos. The festival, themed “Shakara”, marked the 25th anniversary of what has become one of the country’s most enduring cultural events.
Over the week, the festival opened with exhibitions, panel discussions and cultural showcases before pivoting into evening concerts. The main concert night featured several standout performances including debut appearances for emerging artist Modola, who led her band through hits like “No Stress” and “Talk” and was warmly received by the packed venue.
Joining Modola on the bill were heavyweight artists such as Femi Kuti, Made Kuti, Bright Chimezie, Reminisce, Terry Apala, Berri Tega and Kash Coming.
Beyond the music, Felabration 2025 maintained its broader mission of celebrating the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo‑Kuti, using the festival as a platform for conversations on African identity, art and social justice. An Afrobics-dance competition and art-exhibition rounds were also held as part of its idle-mix of performance and activism.
The festival runs through October 19, with events staged at both the New Afrika Shrine and the nearby Freedom Park. Organisers say the mix of live music, cultural tribute and civic engagement continues to resonate with long-time Afrobeat fans, young audiences and students alike.
