Blaqbonez Denies Harassment Claims, Accuses Industry Rivals of Orchestrating Attack
Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez, has formally denied recent allegations of harassment, cyber-stalking and emotional abuse made against him by an unnamed woman.
In a statement posted on his Instagram story, the artist described the claims as “false and deeply distressing.” He added that the allegations form part of a “sustained pattern of harassment and intimidation” directed at him by certain figures within the music industry.
Allegations
According to the claim submitted via the woman’s lawyer, the rapper is accused of:
circulating private video content without consent,
cyber-stalking and invasion of privacy, and
emotional harassment and intimidation following her rejection of romantic advances.
The petition reportedly invokes legal instruments including the Cybercrimes Act, the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act and the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
Blaqbonez’s Response
Blaqbonez asserts that:
the personal relationship referenced in the complaint ended amicably and had nothing to do with ongoing conflict,
the allegations are rooted in professional rivalries and attacks from people seeking to damage his reputation, and
he has been the target of bullying, physical assaults and online attacks for nearly a year, he remained silent until the recent spike in public allegations.
He affirmed that he is fully cooperating with authorities, welcomes transparency, and has instructed his legal team to begin proceedings against those spreading what he calls “deliberate fabrications”.
Industry Implications
The rapper’s claim that the accusations are part of a wider campaign of intimidation highlights tensions within Nigeria’s music industry, where personal, professional and online disputes often entwine. Whether the case will result in formal charges or remain a public relations battle remains to be seen.
Blaqbonez ended his statement with a warning about the damage false allegations can do:
“The truth will come out … false accusations destroy real lives.”
