Singer Terry G Admits “Serving the Devil” Amid Death Rumours
Nigerian musician Terry G (born Gabriel Oche Amanyi) has publicly acknowledged that his rise to fame is the result of “serving the devil,” while also addressing false reports of his death.
In a now-deleted Instagram video, the artiste spoke in Pidgin English, urging fans and social media users to stop circulating the rumour that he had died. He said:
“My phone has been buzzing since morning. … I beg ooo, whoever is trending that news should stop. I’m doing very fine, please stop that. I beg you in the name of God.”
Terry G explained that during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, he didn’t misspeak when he said:
“I sing for the devil. I’m falling short of the glory of God.”
He further clarified:
“And also, let me clarify this. There’s another one trending about me serving the devil. Una no know before. Una no know say na the devil I dey serve? Yes na devil I dey serve. Na devil makes me blow (popular).”
In short, Terry G insists his success came through what he describes as “worldly influences” rather than divine favour. He took the opportunity of the death hoax to set the record straight and to lean into his provocative persona.
The remarks have sparked reactions across social media, with some questioning the implications of his statement and others attributing it to his long‐established reputation for controversy.
