NELFUND Warns Students Against Scammers Using Fake Loan Portal
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a stern warning to students, parents, and guardians over a counterfeit website masquerading as its official student loan portal.
In a statement released on Monday via its Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND said that fraudulent messages are circulating online that falsely claim President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the student loan application portal.
The scam link directs users to a fake site:
https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/, which NELFUND says is entirely bogus and should be disregarded.
NELFUND emphasized that its only legitimate application portal is: https://nelf.gov.ng
The fund urged the public not to click on unverified links and cautioned strongly against submitting personal or financial data on suspicious websites.
To bolster security, NELFUND encouraged anyone who encounters dubious messages or web addresses purporting to be part of its scheme to report them by emailing info@nelf.gov.ng
or reaching out via its verified social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, safe, and fair loan application process, stressing that all official communications will be made through its verified channels.
