Lagos APC applauds Tinubu’s national security emergency declaration
The state chapter of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has commended Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a nationwide security emergency, calling the decision a bold, strategic step toward restoring peace and stability across Nigeria.
In a statement issued Thursday, Lagos APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo described the approval for an additional 20,000 police recruits under Tinubu’s directive as decisive. With prior recruitment bringing numbers to 30,000, the move raises new security manpower to a total of 50,000 officers under the current administration.
The party said this development underscores the administration’s commitment to deep-rooted security reforms, particularly by supporting efforts to give states the legal ability to establish their own policing forces where necessary. Such decentralised policing frameworks, the statement argues, will improve responsiveness and local security infrastructure nationwide.
Furthermore, Lagos APC highlighted that the enlarged recruitment and proposed reforms signal a shift toward a proactive security strategy, one that combines enhanced police presence, improved intelligence coordination, and structural changes to strengthen law enforcement capacity at all levels.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the party’s full support for President Tinubu’s drive to safeguard lives and property across Nigeria, expressing confidence that these measures will help build safer communities and reinforce public trust in the nation’s security institutions.
