Terrorists ambush commercial bus in Kogi, abduct passengers

Armed assailants launched a fresh attack along the Osokoko Obajana road in Kogi State on Thursday, intercepting a commercial bus and abducting an unspecified number of passengers.

According to eyewitnesses, two buses were travelling on the route when the attackers struck. While one bus managed to speed away, the other was forced to stop, and all occupants were reportedly driven into the bush by the assailants.

Security forces from the Nigerian Army quickly responded and arrived at the scene shortly after the ambush. Their intervention led to the reopening of the highway and allowed remaining travellers to resume their journey, though the fate of those abducted remains unclear.

No official statement has yet been released by government or police authorities. Meanwhile, the attack deepens concerns over rising insecurity on key travel routes in the state, coming just a day after another violent incident reportedly targeted students at a school in the state’s Kabba-Bunu area.

The repeated incidents underscore persistent threats to commuters in Kogi State, highlighting urgent calls for more effective security measures on vulnerable highways.
