Soldier accuses government of abandoning troops amid rising terrorist attacks

A Nigerian soldier has publicly criticised the federal government and Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for failing to act decisively as military personnel continue to come under fire from terrorists.

According to a video shared on social media, the soldier lamented that “soldiers are being killed daily” while leaders remain silent. He emphasised that troops are human beings with families, and called on the country’s security apparatus to “wake up.”

He further accused some politicians of diverting public funds and sending their children abroad to study, a practice he contrasted with the unsafe conditions facing soldiers on the frontlines.

The soldier warned that if the insecurity continues unchecked, ordinary citizens may soon be forced to defend themselves.

He also used the moment to urge the electorate to “vote wisely” in the forthcoming 2027 elections, arguing that the choice of leadership will determine how effectively Nigeria addresses its security challenges.

The soldier’s outcry reflects growing frustration from within the military amid a surge of violent attacks in various parts of Nigeria, an issue which, according to critics, demands urgent governmental attention and a renewed commitment to protecting those defending the nation.
