38 Abducted Worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State Reunited With Families Following Rescue
Thirty eight members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), who were abducted in November during a thanksgiving service at the church’s Oke Isegun, Eruku branch, have been reunited with their families after a joint security operation.
The victims were formally handed over to the leadership of the Ekiti Local Government Council by the state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
They arrived Eruku at about 6:30 pm on Tuesday, where jubilant relatives and community members welcomed them home.
The rescue was carried out by a coordinated effort involving federal and state security agencies. According to reports, the operation involved agencies such as the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Air Force, though the government has not publicly disclosed whether a ransom was paid or if any of the abductors were arrested.
Following the reunion, government officials assured residents that the state would reinforce security across all 10 wards of the council area to prevent future attacks.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have called on authorities to provide more transparency about the rescue, specifically how the operation was conducted and what became of the kidnappers.
