Nigeria Police to Prosecute Musician for Insulting Officers on Duty

The Nigeria Police Force has vowed to prosecute musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for exhibiting irrational behavior and hurling insults at police officers on duty.

According to CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s spokesperson, Portable’s actions were caught on video and circulated widely on social media.

Adejobi condemned the singer’s behavior, describing it as criminal and punishable under Nigeria’s laws. He explained that the officers had been carrying out a lawful duty to execute a warrant of arrest on Portable, who was accused of several criminal acts.

The officers had the right to arrest him, and Portable’s behavior was likely to cause a breach of peace and incitement of violence against the officers.

“The Nigeria Police Force will take all necessary steps to investigate his actions and ensure that he is prosecuted for any criminal activity he may have committed depending on the severity of the offense,” Adejobi said. He added that the force would not tolerate any assault, attack, or unruly behavior towards its officers.

Adejobi emphasized that members of the public must respect law enforcement agents who work tirelessly to maintain law and order and fight crime in society. The police force is committed to upholding the law and ensuring that justice is served, regardless of the individual’s status or profession.
