Adeleke Eyes Alternative Platform Amid PDP Turmoil for 2026 Poll

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is reportedly exploring alternative political platforms ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election, amid growing uncertainty within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, the PDP’s National Deputy Vice Chairman for the Southwest, made the disclosure during a radio broadcast, warning that the party’s internal crisis may prevent it from fielding a candidate in Osun. According to him, the situation mirrors challenges the PDP faced in Ekiti State, where defections and rebellions disrupted its primary process.

Ajisafe raised concern about the looming December 15 primary deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that after this date, no new candidates will be recognized. He questioned, “Where is the platform for him [Adeleke] to contest?” suggesting Adeleke may have to defect to secure his re-election bid.

Inside sources quoted by Vanguard claim the governor is in talks with the Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as possible new vehicles for his 2026 campaign.

If Adeleke does move, it would be a dramatic turn in his political strategy, one shaped by the current infighting in the PDP and fears that the party may not produce a viable ticket for him.
