Afrofusion singer Fido drops debut EP Olayemi
Nigerian Afrofusion artist Olayemi Fido Adeola, better known as Fido, has officially released his debut extended play, Olayemi, a deeply personal project he describes as the real beginning of his musical journey.
The eight-track EP, available on all major streaming platforms since August 1, 2025, blends modern Afrobeats with compelling storytelling rooted in themes like identity, purpose, and resilience.
Lead singles “Joy Is Coming” and “Money Moves” have already drawn significant attention for their dynamic energy and inspiring messages.
Fido chose to name the EP after his actual first name, Olayemi, as a sign of authenticity and vulnerability. “With this EP, I want people to understand that Afrobeats can still have new flavors… my music is spiritual,” he shared
Who is Fido?
Born Awosika Olayemi Josiah in Matogun, Ogun State, Fido honed his vocal skills in a church choir before going on to train in music production at PEFTI Film Institute in 2019.
He first made waves with his debut single, “Awolowo”, in August 2024, a street anthem that topped Spotify and Apple Music charts in Nigeria, fueled by raw emotion and authenticity.
His follow-up track “Joy Is Coming” became one of Nigeria’s biggest hits of early 2025, holding the #1 position on the Official Top 100 for six straight weeks and accumulating over 100 million streams across platforms.
