Akon and Wife Tomeka Thiam Part Ways After Nearly Three Decades

In a surprising turn of events, Senegalese-American music artist Akon and his wife, Tomeka Thiam, have decided to end their nearly 29-year marriage. Tomeka filed for divorce just days before their 29th wedding anniversary, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

In her court filing, Tomeka is seeking sole physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Journey, while requesting joint legal custody. Additionally, she is seeking spousal support and has requested that the court deny Akon any spousal support.

The couple, who married in 1996, have largely kept their personal lives private. Despite public speculation about Akon’s relationships, the couple maintained a relatively low profile over the years.
