Alumnus Revitalises Classrooms at Kwara Primary School to Support Education
A prominent alumnus of St. Peter’s Catholic Nursery and Primary School in Okerimi Oro has completed the renovation of two classrooms at his former school, marking a significant private contribution to improving learning facilities in the community.
The classrooms were officially commissioned by Aremo odo of Oro Kingdom, Anthony Oyeyiola, who carried out the project under the Anthony Oyeyiola Community Development Project. The initiative aimed to address the deteriorating infrastructure at the school, located in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, and to create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Speaking virtually from the United States, where he currently resides, Oyeyiola explained that the intervention was driven by his concern for the poor condition of facilities at his alma mater. He urged former students, community members and stakeholders to support the growth and development of the school.
The project was funded with the help of friends, family and well‑wishers, though rising construction costs limited the scale of work. Oyeyiola emphasised that much of the region’s educational infrastructure was historically built through collective community efforts, and he stressed the need to maintain that legacy.
At the commissioning event, community leaders and dignitaries, including traditional rulers and local stakeholders, praised the intervention, noting that refurbished classrooms would enhance the learning experience and motivate others to invest in education.
Oyeyiola’s brother, Mr Michaels Olatunde, also highlighted the symbolic value of the project, saying it would bring renewed hope to children and reaffirm the importance of a strong educational foundation in the formative years.
This alumni‑driven renovation adds to broader efforts within Kwara State to improve school infrastructure and support quality education across the region.
