Arsenal’s Dowman Breaks Record as Youngest Ever Player in UCL

Max Dowman of Arsenal FC made history on Tuesday, becoming the youngest-ever player to feature in the UEFA Champions League. He entered the game as a substitute in the 73rd minute of Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Slavia Prague.

At just 15 years and 309 days old, Dowman surpassed the previous record held by Youssoufa Moukoko, who played at 16 years and 18 days, when representing Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Dowman’s composure under pressure, saying:

“He comes in, the first ball he takes, he takes people on, he starts to dribble, he gets a foul … You cannot teach that.”

Before this milestone, Dowman had already debuted in the Premier League aged 15 years and 234 days during Arsenal’s 5-0 victory over Leeds United on August 23.

The feat underlines Arsenal’s continued faith in youth talent and marks a landmark moment for the club and the Champions League alike.
