Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the President-elect of Nigeria, has announced the formation of a 13-man Presidential Inauguration Committee. The committee is tasked with planning a week-long event that will usher in Tinubu and his Vice-President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima as the new leaders of the country.

In a letter to the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Tinubu named Abubakar Kyari as the Coordinator and Director of Finance and Budget of the Committee. Stella Okotete will head the Secretariat, Planning and Monitoring, while Makinde Araoye will serve as the Director of Venue, Parades and Swearing-in.

Other members of the committee include Bayo Onanuga, who will serve as Head of Media and Publicity, and Dr Betta Edu, who will coordinate the medical team for the inauguration. Col. Abdulazeez Yar’Adua will act as the head of Security and Ceremonial Parade for the inauguration, while Mrs Zainab Buba Marwa will coordinate the pre-inauguration dinner and gala night. The remaining members of the committee are Samira Saddik, Abuh Andrew Abuh, Dr. Danladi Bako, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir, Donald Wokoma, Bishop Adegbite, and Imam Faud.

It is important to note that Tinubu had earlier forwarded the names of Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Edun to be included as his representatives in the Transition Committee. Tinubu is expected to be inaugurated as President on May 29, 2023.
