Bernal Says Flick Urged Him to “Make the Most” of Catalonia Debut

Barcelona youngster Marc Bernal revealed that manager Hansi Flick encouraged him to fully seize the opportunity ahead of his first appearance for Catalonia in a charity match. The 18-year-old started in midfield during the friendly against Palestine at Montjuïc, playing 45 minutes.

Flick, who was in attendance, told Bernal to “make the most of today’s match,” according to the midfielder.

Bernal explained that a warm-up match played earlier in the week helped him get into his rhythm, which made the Montjuïc appearance more meaningful.

Describing his debut, Bernal said it was “really special,” noting the journey from playing for Catalonia’s youth sides to now representing its senior team.

Despite recovering from a long-term injury and with limited minutes for Barcelona this season, he expressed pride in the moment.

He also addressed Barca’s much-anticipated return to Spotify Camp Nou, saying there is “a feeling among all of us that we’re going to make the most of it and have some great nights there.”
