Who is Uma Ukpai?
Dr. Uma Ukpai is a renowned Nigerian Christian evangelist, preacher, and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), a global ministry dedicated to soul-winning, healing, and empowerment through the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is one of Nigeria’s most respected men of God, known for his deep faith, healing crusades, and commitment to raising a new generation of Christian leaders.
Childhood and Schooling
On January 7, 1945, Dr. Uma Ukpai was born in Asaga Ohafia, Abia State, Nigeria. Despite a number of hardships in his early years, such as the early death of his father, Uma Ukpai’s faith and perseverance led him onto a road of divine destiny.
After attending Hope Waddell Training Institute in Calabar, he went on to study at several universities, graduating with degrees in Divinity, Engineering, and Theology. He was a special combination of intelligence and anointing because of his insatiable curiosity and desire for spiritual development.

Uma Ukpai’s journey into ministry began in the late 1960s after a powerful encounter with God. He founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), which became one of the leading evangelistic movements in Nigeria and beyond.

He established the Uma Ukpai Foundation, a nonprofit with an emphasis on poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education.
