Breaking News: CBN Gives Directives to Dispense Old Notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria has given directives to commercial banks to dispense old currency notes and to also receive same as deposits from customers according to the former CBN Governor and presently the Governor of Anambra State Prof. Charles Soludo.

He Stated that Tellers at the Commercial Banks are to generate the codes for deposits and there is no limit to the number of times an individual or company can make deposits.

The present Governor of CBN gave the directive at a Bankers’’ Committee Meeting held on Sunday, 12th March, 2023.

Prof. Charles said the present CBN governor personally confirm to the news to him during a phone conversation on Sunday night.

He therefore advised the people of Anambra to freely accept and transact their businesses with the old currency notes as well as new notes and report any bank that refuses to accept deposits of the old notes.
