Celebrating Excellence: Nigerian Army Shares Bicycle For Outstanding Soldiers

In a remarkable display of appreciation and recognition, 58 soldiers hailing from different units of the Nigerian Army (NA) in Jos were honored for their exceptional dedication, hard work, and exemplary conduct. The ceremony took place at the Headquarters 3 Division Auditorium Jos, where Major General Abdulsalam Bagudu Ibrahim, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), presented the well-deserved prizes to the recipients.

General Abdulsalami Bagudu, while presenting cash gifts and brand new bicycles to the soldiers, highlighted the significance of rewarding diligence and commitment to duty as part of his vision. His aim is not only to motivate the personnel within the Cantonment but also to inspire others to exhibit greater dedication in their tasks.

The GOC emphasized that the awards were not solely based on hard work, but also on the combination of tangible results and exemplary character. He stressed that one’s character and attitude profoundly reflect their individuality, asserting, “Never you think you have not been watched, and you must be seen to represent the Army positively anywhere you are.”

General Ibrahim sternly cautioned soldiers against engaging in misconduct and indiscipline, as appropriate sanctions would be imposed on any found wanting. Encouraging other soldiers to continue striving for excellence, he expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for consistently leading by example and rewarding outstanding performance and hardworking personnel within the NA.

During the event, Brigadier General David Kurmi, the Chief of Staff at Headquarters 3 Division NA, extended his appreciation to the GOC/Comd OPSH for prioritizing the welfare of troops and their families within the cantonment. He urged commanders at all levels to objectively select recipients of such commendations, thereby inspiring others to aspire to achieve similar feats. Brigadier General Kurmi charged the awardees to maintain high standards of discipline and rededicate their energy to serving the nation.
