Cole Palmer Bulks Up While Nursing Injury, Chelsea Eye November Return
Cole Palmer has used his time sidelined by a groin injury to hit the gym and noticeably strengthen his physique, according to reports, as Chelsea target a comeback date.
The 23-year-old playmaker has been out of action since aggravating the injury in a match against Manchester United on September 20.
Chelsea, keen not to risk a relapse, opted not to rush his return.
Originally, Palmer was expected back after the October international break, but his return has been pushed to late November following further medical meetings.
He has resumed training on the grass at Chelsea’s Cobham base and is reportedly edging closer to full fitness.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues are “loosely suggesting” that Palmer might make his return in their Champions League clash with Barcelona on November 25, with a Premier League game against Arsenal on November 30 serving as an alternative comeback date.
During his layoff, Palmer has remained close to the squad, watching games from the stands and taking part in parts of first-team training, all while working hard to rebuild his strength.
His commitment to recovery is in part driven by his ambition to reclaim a spot in the England squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has repeatedly emphasized a cautious, “day-by-day” approach to managing Palmer’s recovery.
While surgery isn’t being considered, the club wants to ensure Palmer returns fully fit and in peak condition.
