Davido and Chioma’s Miami Wedding
Nigerian superstar Davido and his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland, recently celebrated a luxurious white-style wedding ceremony in Miami on Sunday, August 10. According to Davido, the event cost a staggering US $3.7 million to organize.
The star-studded guest list included some of Nigeria’s most prominent figures, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote; Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State; and Davido’s uncle Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun State. Also in attendance were former Senate President Bukola Saraki, American gospel artist Kirk Franklin, Nigerian musicians Adenkule Gold and D’banj, and Ghanaian superstar Stonebwoy.
Although Davido has performed on countless global stages, he revealed that the Miami ceremony was the most nerve-wracking moment of his life. In heartfelt remarks, the 32-year-old musician described Chioma, now 30, as his “love, peace and home,” saying she quietly entered his life and blossomed into its “loudest and most beautiful” part.
This celebration in Miami marks the couple’s third wedding event. They first exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in Lagos in March 2023, followed by a traditional ceremony in Lagos in June 2024.
Davido and Chioma’s story began back in 2013 at Babcock University in Ogun State, where he was studying music and she was pursuing economics before developing a passion for cooking. The song “Dami Duro” had already made waves when they met.
Years later, in a candid reflection, Davido shared how fortunate he felt to have met Chioma before fame claimed his life—pointing out that being single after becoming a celebrity would have made any relationship suspect. He first introduced Chioma to the public as his girlfriend in 2018.
The couple were blessed with a son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, born in October 2019. Tragically, he passed away in a drowning accident at their Lagos home in October 2022 when he was just three years old.
