Davido Clarifies Viral Slap Video: “It Was a Mistake”
Nigerian music star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has addressed a viral video that suggested he was slapped while in Warri, Delta State.
The clip circulating on social media showed Davido surrounded by his security personnel and fans. In one moment, it appeared as though he had been struck on the head. This prompted social media users, including one going by #AsakyGRN, to accuse people in Warri of disrespecting him, with comments such as, “Warri people no get joy oo. See dem sl@p Davido for head.”
Reacting via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Davido clarified that the incident was a misunderstanding. He revealed that the blow came from one of his own security aides, who struck him by mistake. He wrote:
“Mumu that was my security .. hit me by mistake .. saddist.”
With that explanation, Davido sought to quash the speculation and rumours that followed the video.
