Detty December Fest 2025 Concludes in Lagos with Global Music Stars and High‑Energy Shows
The Detty December Fest 2025 wrapped up in Lagos on Tuesday after nearly a month of electrifying concerts and cultural celebrations that brought together international and African music icons, reinforcing the event’s status as one of the continent’s most vibrant end‑of‑year festivals.
Held at the Ilubirin Mixed‑Use Development from December 7 to 29, the festival featured four major highlight concert days and drew hundreds of music lovers, holiday travelers and diaspora visitors to the Nigerian city’s waterfront.
The closing concerts were dominated by headline performances from international stars Busta Rhymes and Gunna, whose sets ignited the crowd with high‑energy shows. They were joined by some of Africa’s biggest talents, including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Phyno, Diamond Platnumz, Fave, Qing Madi and Juma Jux, among others.
A standout moment of the festival occurred when Afrobeats superstar Wizkid made a surprise appearance on stage during Gunna’s headline set, performing their collaborative track Forever Be Mine to loud cheers from the audience, a brief but unforgettable highlight that trended widely on social media.
The grand opening night on December 7 set a theatrical tone for the week‑long festivities with Zenit aerial ballerinas, followed by performances from Nigerian artists like Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Ice Prince, Darey, Fola, Shoday and Jerry Shaffer.
Organisers said the 2025 edition pushed creative boundaries and showcased Lagos’ growing capacity for large‑scale live entertainment. The festival is widely seen as a cultural and economic boon, drawing music lovers from across Africa and the world and helping boost tourism during the holiday season.
With its blend of international flair and local energy, Detty December continues to shape Lagos into a global destination for music and year‑end festivities, a tradition organisers hope to build on in coming years.
