DJ Tunez: Getting Wizkid and Davido to Be Friends Has Been My Toughest Challenge
Popular Nigerian DJ and Wizkid’s official disc jockey, DJ Tunez, has opened up about one of the biggest hurdles in his career—and it has nothing to do with music production or performing on stage.
During a recent livestream on X (formerly Twitter), DJ Tunez revealed that his greatest challenge has been trying to reconcile two of Nigeria’s biggest music stars: Wizkid and Davido.
“My biggest challenge? Making Wizkid and Davido to love each other, that’s my biggest challenge,” he admitted.
While fans have long speculated about tension between the two Afrobeats heavyweights, Tunez’s comment confirms just how real, and difficult, the divide has been to bridge behind the scenes.
A Rivalry That Runs Deep
The strained relationship between Wizkid and Davido isn’t new. In fact, their rivalry has been on and off for over a decade. Most recently, in October 2024, the feud flared up again when the two exchanged harsh words and jabs across social media platforms.
Calls for Unity in Afrobeats
The music industry has not been silent on this. Several key figures, including Iyanya and Asa Asika, have publicly urged both artists to set aside their differences for the greater good of the Afrobeats genre. Many believe that a united front between Wizkid and Davido could elevate the global reach of Nigerian music even further.
