Emma Watson Banned From Driving For Six Months After Speeding Conviction
Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding in Oxford. The 35-year-old actress, currently a student at the University of Oxford, was recorded driving at 38 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone on the evening of July 31 last year.
The speeding incident, which took place in Oxford, was brought before High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Watson, who did not attend the brief five-minute hearing, already had nine penalty points on her driving licence prior to this offence, which contributed to the ban.
In addition to the six-month driving ban, Watson has been ordered to pay £1,044 in fines and legal costs.
Watson rose to international fame with her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, appearing in all eight films since the series began in 2001. She has also starred in other notable films, including The Bling Ring and Little Women. The actress has recently shifted focus to academic pursuits at Oxford.
