FC Cincinnati’s 2025 Season Ends in Disappointment with 4–0 Loss to Inter Miami
FC Cincinnati’s 2025 MLS campaign came to a crushing close Sunday night, as they were shut out 4–0 by Inter Miami in the Eastern Conference Semifinals at TQL Stadium.
The defeat was a bitter ending to a season that began with high hopes. Despite a strong regular season performance, the Orange and Blue couldn’t match Miami on the big stage.
Messi Leads the Charge
Inter Miami opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Lionel Messi rose to head in the first goal.
Miami then sealed the win with a flurry of goals: they struck again in the 57th minute, followed by a third five minutes later, and added a fourth in the 74th minute — wrapping up the match in just under 20 minutes.
Cincinnati’s Fight Was in Vain
FC Cincinnati pushed back throughout, but their efforts failed to yield any goals. The 4–0 scoreline offered little consolation, and many fans left the stadium visibly shaken.
After the match, head coach Pat Noonan called it “a tough night,” congratulating Miami on their performance and thanking his players and staff for their hard work over the season.
Defender Miles Robinson expressed regret, saying he felt the team let their fans down and simply wasn’t good enough on the night.
Striker Kévin Denkey, meanwhile, reflected on the painful end: “We had a good season… but to end up like this is painful … we need to learn … and be better next time.”
Defender Nick Hagglund acknowledged the emotional weight, emphasizing how much it meant to play for the club and their supporters, especially as this group may not stay together next season.
Looking Ahead
The loss raises tough questions for FC Cincinnati as they prepare for 2026. With many players’ contracts expiring and several on loan, the roster could look very different next season.
