First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Calls for United Effort to Protect Children From Sexual Abuse
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has made a passionate appeal for collective action to safeguard children against sexual exploitation and abuse.
Speaking in Abuja during the commemoration of the World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence, Tinubu urged all Nigerians, parents, community leaders, government bodies, and civil society, to play an active role in creating safer environments for children.
She emphasized that protecting children must not be limited to symbolic statements, but backed by “informed action,” calling for policies grounded in data, research, and evidence.
In her remarks, the First Lady stressed that every child must grow up “free from fear and harm,” and she encouraged religious, traditional, and community leaders to support initiatives that prioritize child protection.
She also prayed for divine protection for all children, noting that safeguarding their well-being is a shared national duty.
