Freed Kwara Church Worshipper Says Terrorists ‘Control All the Bush’ Around Eruku

A former captive from the recent abduction of worshippers in the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, has revealed disturbing details about the terrorists’ operations in the bush surrounding the area.

In an interview shortly after his release, the worshipper said the gunmen who attacked the church on the evening of November 18 “operate from a fully dominated enclave,” boasting that they know “all the roads surrounding those bushes in Kwara and other states.”

He described how, just 30 minutes into the church service, he heard gunshots. At first, he mistook them for sparks from an electrical wire, but within moments, attackers had surrounded the building, and chaos broke out as people saw “drops of blood” on the floor.

After the attack, the abducted congregants were marched deep into the forest. There, the victim says he understood the full breadth of the terrorists’ control. “They told us nobody slips away from that place without being caught,” he said.

He also claimed the kidnappers were very familiar with the terrain, including the bush paths that connect neighbouring states. “They know all the routes,” he insisted.

The revelation comes amid broader outrage over the attack. Security forces and government officials have been praised for facilitating the release of the 38 abducted church members.
