“I Can’t Be Crying More Than the Bereaved” — Samklef Dismisses ₦20M Allegations Around Mohbad Controversy

Nigerian music producer Samuel Oguachuba, widely known as Samklef, has stepped forward to address a simmering controversy involving social media activist VeryDarkMan in relation to the death of late singer Mohbad.

In a recent video, Samklef firmly denied claims that VeryDarkMan paid ₦20 million to access a private group chat tied to Mohbad. According to him, the leak originated from someone already inside the group, not from any payment he made.

He expressed frustration that his efforts to seek justice have instead left him under fire. “If Mohbad’s father remains silent, why should I be fighting harder? Why would I be crying more than those who directly lost someone?” Samklef asked. He insisted he has no personal gain in the case, and that battling this fight has drawn more insults than support.

Samklef also criticized the music industry and Mohbad’s family for failing to acknowledge his contributions. “I think deeply about why we’re still fighting. Even the family hasn’t shown appreciation for what I’ve done. The judiciary cleared Naira Marley and Sam Larry, did you see me publicly ranting about that? Instead, the entire industry turned against me,” he lamented.

Urging for peace, he added: “Revenge won’t calm Mohbad’s soul, it’s still unsettled, he’s not even laid to rest. Everyone should cease hostilities and stop the fighting.”
