Ibiza Music Events Halted After Two Tragic Deaths
Two Fatal Incidents at Ibiza Rocks
In July 2025, the Ibiza Rocks hotel in San Antonio, known for its open-air music events, experienced two tragic balcony falls within just two weeks. On July 7, 26-year-old Evan Thomson from Scotland fell to his death. Then, on July 21, 19-year-old Gary Kelly, a professional ice hockey player with the Dundee Stars, also died after falling from the same venue.
Events Suspended Out of Respect
Following Gary Kelly’s death, Ibiza Rocks announced it would pause all scheduled music events, including performances by Dizzee Rascal and Rudimental, citing “the seriousness of the situation” and their “highest priority” being guest safety and cooperation with authorities.
Tributes and Investigation
Both men were commemorated by friends, family, and colleagues. The Dundee Stars honoured Kelly as “hugely talented and charismatic,” while Thomson’s mother expressed her heartbreak.
The UK Foreign Office is assisting both families and liaising with Spanish authorities. Meanwhile, Spain’s Civil Guard is investigating both incidents, treating them as likely accidents pending post-mortem reports and witness statements.
The accidental deaths of two young British men led the popular Ibiza venue to halt its summer party schedule, as investigations continue and tributes pour in.
