BOOM, Belgium — A catastrophic fire ravaged the main stage of the iconic Tomorrowland electronic music festival on Wednesday evening, just two days ahead of its opening on Friday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the approximately 1,000 crew members and early-arriving staff .

Raging flames consumed the “Orbyz” stage—this year’s glacier-inspired centerpiece—destroying nearly three-quarters of its entire structure. Spectacular footage shared on social media captured towering plumes of dark smoke and fireworks-like sparks rising high above the festival grounds.

Firefighters and emergency services rapidly contained the blaze, also evacuating nearby residents as a precaution. Authorities are currently investigating, with early speculation suggesting a fireworks test may have triggered the fire.

Despite the substantial damage, organizers have reaffirmed that Tomorrowland will take place as planned on both weekends (July 18–20 and July 25–27), with some adjustments in place.

The festival’s camping zone, DreamVille, remains open as scheduled, and the remaining fifteen stages across Boom, Brussels, and Antwerp remain operational.

Festival representatives emphasized the emotional toll of losing the main stage:

This wasn’t just a stage, every single piece of Orbyz carried part of our soul, they said, while confirming work is underway to reconfigure performances and launch the event safely.

Headlining artists including David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia, Lost Frequencies, Fisher, and Charlotte de Witte are now slated to perform across alternate venues, primarily the Freedom Stage, with full details to be announced soon.

What’s Next:

Investigators will interview pyrotechnic teams and review footage to pinpoint the fire’s origins.

Organizers are swiftly revising the performance schedule to accommodate artists on the remaining functional stages.
