Mastantuono Signs His Real Madrid Contract
Real Madrid officially welcomed Franco Mastantuono today, tying him to the club for the next six seasons. Club president Florentino Pérez greeted the young Argentine in the conference hall at Real Madrid City, where Mastantuono signed on the dotted line.
As a token of arrival, he received a miniature model of the Bernabéu, a watch, and a jersey bearing his name and number, 30.
Background & Transfer Details
Transfer Fee & Contract
Real Madrid activated the €63.2 million release clause in Mastantuono’s River Plate contract, composed of €45 million in direct payment plus about €18.2 million in additional costs, making it the priciest transfer in Argentine football’s history.
The deal officially spans from August 14, 2025, to June 30, 2031
Why the 14 August Date?
The club intentionally scheduled the official signing for Mastantuono’s 18th birthday to ensure compliance with FIFA rules affecting underage transfers, even though he already holds an Italian passport.
Record-Breaking Arrival
At just 17, he had already become River Plate’s youngest-ever goalscorer and the youngest player to represent Argentina in an official match.
This move also marks the return of an Argentine to Real Madrid’s first-team roster after an 11-year gap following Di María’s and Higuaín’s exits.
Presentation & A Personal Touch
Mastantuono was quietly training at Valdebebas ahead of today’s event and is expected to start integrating with Xabi Alonso’s squad right away
In his first public words, he described the day as the realization of a dream, thanked his family and mentors, and pledged to “give everything for this shirt”.
Upcoming Debut
All signs point to his La Liga debut coming soon, possibly as early as the league opener against Osasuna on August 19 at Santiago Bernabéu.
